Teuku.Net - Google Meet has launched a filter that allows users to "apply makeup" before starting a meeting or conference. First introduced on mobile devices last year, the feature is now available on the Google Meet web application.
Users can choose from two different filters, Subtle and Smoothing. Google says the Subtle filter applies light skin smoothing, such as under-eye brightening and eye whitening. While the Smoothing filter makes all three effects a little more visible.
Based on the GIF images Google showed, it doesn't appear that any of the options dramatically change the user's appearance like some of the filters found on Snapchat.
Instead, it looks like the effects applied are much lighter, making it look like the user is not using a filter.
Users can find the touch option by selecting the "Apply visual effects in Meet" setting and selecting "Appearance. From there, users can enable or disable portrait touch and select their preferred filter.
According to The Verge, Google Meet has launched the portrait enhancement feature, but keep in mind that this feature is only available to paid users on subscription plans such as Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching & Learning Upgrade.
Google One and Google Workspace Individual subscribers will also have access to this feature. The launch of this feature is considered a little late by Google. The reason is that competitors like Zoom and Microsoft Teams already allow users to customize their look and feel, and the results are much more dramatic.
