Now, users can give commands or questions to applications via voice. In fact, Bing is also able to read out the response with a voice.
Voice support for search engine chatbots on this PC is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4 technology, as quoted from Engadget, Friday (16/6/2023).
Through its latest preview release notes, Microsoft said that the presence of this feature is because the company has reviewed the many users who like to use voice input to chat on smartphones.
Like the feature available on the mobile version of the app, users can tap the microphone icon on the Bing Chat box to be able to talk to the AI chatbot.
Besides being able to ask questions by voice, chatbots now also support text-to-speech answers. This tool is able to answer various questions in its own voice, as if it were chatting with the user.
This feature supports several language modes, such as English, Japanese, French, German, and Mandarin. While still limited, Microsoft says support for more languages is in development.
According to a report by Verge, the launch of this feature follows the company's announcement that it will discontinue Cortana's performance as a Windows virtual assistant at the end of this year.
However, Microsoft stated that users will still have access to powerful productivity features in Windows and Edge, with enhanced AI capabilities.
